Mark Wells’ Latest Single Launch to support John
Hunter Children’s Hospital
Novocastrian musician, Mark Wells,
will launch his new single, “Sly”, from
his forthcoming album, on January 7th at Lizottes Newcastle.
Both Wells and Lizottes will be
donating a portion of the proceeds from the evening
to the John Hunter Children’s Hospital, Neonatal
Intensive Care Unit.
“I’m really excited
about the single launch, and the nice thing is that
we’re also going to be helping out a great local
organisation” says Wells.
“NICU and its staff do so
many good things for Newcastle, it’s important
that they get the funding needed to keep on providing
the care and support they offer to local families.”
Wells has enjoyed a slew of success
and recognition within the country music scene throughout
2010. Recently it was capped off with the announcement
that Wells would be playing alongside Alan Jackson,
Miranda Lambert and The McClymonts at the CMC Rocks
the Hunter Festival at Hope Estate on 5th March 2011.
This week, Mark was also nominated
for the Country Music Channel’s New Oz Artist
of the Year Award for 2011.
It comes off the back of a year
of solid touring, with Wells and his band raising eyebrows
at some of the biggest country music festivals in Australia,
from the Gympie Muster with the likes of Troy Casser-Daley,
to Deniliquin with Aussie legends Cold Chisel.
“It’s been a great year,
and we’re hoping 2011 is going to be even bigger,
and it starts with this single launch for ‘Sly’”
said Wells.
The song itself was never intended
to be recorded and was a last minute addition to the
album.
“I guess it's a song about
the fact that people aren't always what they seem”
Wells recalls. “It came together really quickly
late at night in one of the sessions.”
“I played the song through
once for the band, we jammed it, and within about half
an hour it was done.”
Wells will launch “Sly”
at Lizotte’s Newcastle on 7th January 2011 at
Lizotte’s Newcastle. Tickets are $20 show only
and $55 for dinner + show. Tix available from the venue,

Mark Wells and Lizotte’s will
be donating a portion of the proceeds to NICU.
